1. Who we are

RentAhead is operated by Van Casteren IT, the Netherlands (KvK: 77369211). We are the data controller for the personal data you provide when using this service. You can reach us at vancasterenit@gmail.com for any privacy-related questions.

2. What data we collect

Account data

Your name, email address, and chosen subscription plan. Provided by you at signup.

Alert preferences

Your selected city, price range, and size filters. Used to match and send relevant listing alerts.

Payment data

Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. We never see or store your card details.

Usage data (with consent only)

If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics to collect anonymised data about how visitors use the site (pages visited, session duration, country). This is not linked to your account. You can decline this at any time via the cookie banner.

3. Why we use your data

  • To provide the service — sending you rental alerts that match your filters
  • To process payments — managing your subscription via Stripe
  • To contact you — service-related emails such as your welcome email or account notifications
  • To improve the product — anonymised analytics (only with your consent)

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

  • Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) for account and alert data
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for transactional emails
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for Google Analytics cookies

5. Who we share data with

  • Stripe (stripe.com) for payment processing
  • Google Analytics for anonymised usage statistics, only if you have given consent

We do not sell your data to third parties.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Payment records may be retained longer where required by tax or legal obligations.

7. Cookies

We use one category of cookies:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — only placed after you click Accept in the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for rentahead.nl.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Withdraw consent for analytics at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl)
